“A false balance is an abomination to the Lord, but a just weight is his delight.” Proverbs 11:1

Why do we call President Biden’s actions this week in regard to the cancelling of student debt (up to $10,000 and $20,000 for those with Pell Grants) sin?

It’s theft, pure and simple. No man is obligated to pay the debts of another. To love our neighbor means, among many things but especially this, that we not make him our slave in ways great or small. Charity is not thievery.

As Christians we’re obligated to teach all nations (leaders included) that Jesus Christ is Lord (Matthew 28:18-20; Romans 11:33-36). Psalm 2:10 reads unequivocally that kings, rulers, presidents, congressmen, mayors and any other type of authority are warned to serve the Lord. There are simply no moral free-agents on earth. All authorities are established by God and governed, therefore, by His law/word (Romans 13:1).

We pause to call all those Christians who resist this plain fact of Scripture to repent as well. There is no authority outside of Jesus Christ. If President Biden or any other power attempts to exempt itself from His law/word and their principles of conduct, those authorities are in open rebellion against Christ and morality. Christians are called to submit to the governing authorities and these authorities are called to apply the principles of self-defense justice to the area over which they’ve been given to govern. The modern idea of a separation of church and state is antithetical to Scripture (and historical fiction) if it means that the principles of the Word have no authority over the civil affairs of a people. This is, perhaps, the greatest sin of our time within the church. They have unwittingly granted parity between Jesus Christ and the White House. All men are governed by a set of moral commandments/principles. Will we stand upon holy Scripture in all its perfection or embrace the self-destruction tenets of humanism?

We simply cannot serve two masters. That’s called idolatry, by the way. Christ is not one among varied ways; He is the Way. He isn’t one of several truths; He is the Truth.

This plainly means that the civil magistrate cannot act unilaterally. He must act according to the principles of law given to us by God. It’s not a question of whether President Biden will act according to a moral standard, but which standard will be his guide. Again, it’s not whether, but which; there is no neutrality. We are either with Christ, or against Him.

The reality of this is seen when Jesus told Pilate, so matter-of-factly, that he (Rome’s governor and representative) would have no power over Him (Jesus) unless it was granted from above (John 19:11). The context, therefore, in which Christians are called to submit to civil authorities is clearly established. All authority is God’s and any authority executed over men or nations finds its morality in its application of God’s will. An authority that acts outside of God’s law/word and its clear principles is, then, sinful. Christians, though they’re called to submit to authority for the sake of peace and conscience, must nevertheless point out the sinfulness of the magistrate’s action (as we’re doing here).

If the magistrate goes so far as to establish itself as an authority unto itself it not merely sins but declares itself as an idol – an open challenge against the Lordship of Christ (Psalm 2). If the magistrate’s orders allow for the church to continue its Godly functions it (the church) must submit to the magistrate and yet preach to it. It must not accept in principle nor action, the contested ground upon which the government puts its flag down. Being Christ’s bride, no individual Christian nor any legitimate church may give aid and comfort to God’s declared enemy. In that vein, we call on President Biden, once again, and America’s governmental apparatus that stands with him in principle, to repent. Law is not what they can do and/or what they want. Law is what the Lord says it is and only that.

This sham forgiveness of college debt is an insult to the intelligence of any Bible student. To be frustrated is something every child is taught to deal with. Not being able to have a cookie before dinner, go to bed late, or play video games all day, is not child abuse. It’s called parenting. It’s preparing a child for life in the real world. A child who gets their way all the time is called spoiled. A child who throws a fit whenever their desires aren’t fulfilled so as to make life miserable for all those in their selfish wake is a brat.

Likewise, modern Democrats have become a party of brats. As an objective observation of fact, they’ve evolved into a party of voters who throw a fit whenever they want something. But, again, a desire is not a right. To be frustrated by life and its limitations is not evidence of a crime. The most sinister part of the Democrat party today is this insidious assumption at the root of everything in which they advocate. Indeed, many have been conned into believing the lies.

Democrats, in the grip of the Enemy’s deadly embrace, have reasoned that to not get what they want is somehow a violation of their rights. They’ve been convinced of this because they’ve rejected wisdom and knowledge. They hear the Word of the Lord as one among many voices. They think Scripture has nothing to say about political matters, social policy, and, in this case, student loans. The Lord says, “My son, keep my words and treasure up my commandments…keep them and live…write my law on your heart…and love it, truly love it so that you will be protected from the Enemy’s seduction (Proverbs 7:1-5).” But they’ve exchanged the truth for a lie and have gone into the harlot of sin with her promise of wealth, pleasure and ease. Professing Christians should know better.  If the state has power, that is, moral authority outside of God, then the state is god.

The deception is so bad that even Christians have convinced themselves that there’s nothing untoward at all about a president acting as a law unto himself. Christians must come out of this demonic party. Do they think that the laws against coveting and theft have been abrogated because men say so? There is nothing in Scripture which gives any man or government the right to steal.  King Ahab’s sin against Naboth in order to attain his vineyard was at least achieved under the cover of a conspiracy.  Now our president boldly and shamelessly announces theft as a moral achievement.  Is the Lord’s word/law invalidated because we think it’s a good cause? Doesn’t a thief have a good use for the money/property he steals? Ah…the desire for the unearned is such a deceptive passion, but it does not, nor does anything, annul the moral absolutes against theft. This bunk, this drivel, about it being okay – even morally proper – to take from one to give to another is the stuff of Satan.

The very first chapter of Wisdom’s great book, Proverbs, cautions against this Democrat party and its temptations. We’re told that fools despise wisdom and instruction (Proverbs 1:7) and that there’s no fear of God before their eyes. Then we’re warned that sinners will entice us with promises to find “precious goods” and that we’ll fill our houses with wealth (Proverbs 1:13). Yes, we’re warned! Sin will entice us with promises that we’ll all have “one purse” (Proverbs 1:14). Is there a better condemnation against socialistic schemes anywhere else? All of the wealth is taken from others – not by free trade, and not by a voluntary exchange of talents/goods/services. Notice that work and responsibility are absent from sin’s enticement. That’s it! Greed will come to us and speak seductively in our ear about our rights. It will enchant us. It will lure us and the promise is always something for nothing.

The harlot of Proverbs 7 beckons. And the fool will mindlessly climb into her bed…in this case, into the luscious linens of governmental largess. She whispers seductively to them that they’ll find happiness. She is loud and wayward (7:11). She says that she’s religious (verse 14) and that she cares (verse 15). She promises love and wealth (verse 18) and that there will be no consequences (verse 20). The government’s speech, as with the harlot that Proverbs warns against, is seductive. Sin promises what you want…yes, the promise is to take and consume, to get your way…without God. It’s the temptation in the Garden all over again. Satan and his agents always promise us freedom from frustration, maturity and accountability. Always. This is the great battle of our life and of the ages.

So, if you take a loan, pay it back. That is the word/law of God. If you default, that’s between you and the lender and there will be consequences. No man owes you his labor or property. Period. President Biden has sinned and all those who support this theft and mockery of justice have likewise sinned.

“You shall not muzzle an ox when it is treading out the grain.” Deuteronomy 25:4.

Work is sacred because God has called us to it.  God commands that we be productive and bear fruit. To “punish” lawful labor in these ways, making it less productive, and denying people the right to the profit of their labor, is an abominable sin that the Democrat party must renounce.  The “right” to appropriate the labor of free people is a sin that the modern Democrat party cherishes.  In this way, they mock God.  In Christ, we live to serve our neighbor to His glory. We live to glorify God and be productive in His name. Any subversion of this is evil and causes decay of families and societies. Government won’t fix what ails man, nor will riches or pleasure. Only Christ saves…and through faith alone, by grace alone, lest any man should boast.
